Raid My Wardrobe is setting up shop in Sydney for the first time on Saturday, 31 March 2012 at Sydney University and is calling for stallholders to come and join the new wave in fashion - selling and buying – recycling your wardrobe.

Raid My Wardrobe will feature over 50 fashion stalls under the one roof, selling a wide range of preloved designer label and vintage clothing.

Preloved and vintage fashion is all the rage among the who’s who of Hollywood and in rock star circles. Many of them gain street-cred and style from their vintage clothes. Now you can too!

Been sketching heaps lately because I am sick of my lazy attitude and inability to draw when I am a design student. These sketches were from Blumarine's 2012 S/S collection released last year. I do love the colours, reminds me of hawaii with the hibiscus design. The floral shoes were the most fun to sketch, just a whole lot of scribble really hah.

Yes the leather feels and smells as good as it looks and yes I am planning on designing and making a very androgynous predominately black palette inspired by Medieval>Baroque period with a minimalist approach. I have been fascinated for years with Plague doctors, botanist illustrations, manuscripts etc. Starting off with a colour inspiration who else better to smash all over a black mood board better than Ann Demeulemeester (past and present)? With bits of Wang, Di$count, unknown sourced editorials floating around aswell.

Kinda crazy thinking about so much darkness in our hot Australian summer but I just know that my first collection design has to be androgynous, it is just my preffered style and it just feels, right? I will have you know I am designing and possibly making some of the designed pieces especially accessories, most will be one off designs and will mean alot to me. I hope to have some samples over the next few months.

Been a little down lately so just thought I would show off some lovely items I have recently acquired. Hope you see something you like

Wow what a break... what a fail. Where have I been? Really, I have no excuse I haven't been completely busy, yes work here and there but mainly sitting in my room wondering where summer is and what to do to be most productive for the day, which usually results in me on Tumblr for hours.

Beginning of December was spent working heaps and helping at the Manning Cartell sample sale, mid December up until now I have been trying to see Sean as much as possible.

How was everyone's NYE and Christmas break? I am starting this new fresh as always and leaving my Manning Cartell internship after a year (I really need a chance to earn money and time to myself). Second year of uni to come... not looking forward to it at all, my timetable is lame and spread out.

Looking back 2011 was a very depressing year. I have been more detached from my family, Sean left for the army and I will never get the chance to wake up beside him everyday ever again. He just has such a demanding travelling role in the army, still not sure why I am holding on, kinda depressing when I think about it. My grades were very average at uni, I have been a top grade student since 09.

Well the day is beautiful and I am going to try and get out despite not having a working car :( (it broke down yesterday on the way to the beach new year's day)

The deco infused Varga Girls is the latest from the team at Manning Cartell. I have seen this collection in progress over the handful of months and of course the hard work has paid off. I have been waiting to show you all for ages!
I am obsessed with the abstract floral print which stood out the most for me whilst working in the studio cutting. Large & heavy overcoats and masculine paper-bag pants reflect the gender dressing of the post WWI period 1920s in a less literal fashion. The textures are fabulous and I encourage anyone lucky enough to have access to a concept store or a Myer over the next few months to browse and fall in love.

Finally a post! Sorry about all of this lovers, uni has been crazy (2 weeks to go). This is my final finished piece inspired by my hometown of Newcastle, Silverchair, Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc etc

Firstly I would just like to thank my followers old and new for all the support. I really love hearing from you guys. Some people like blogs with lots of daily outfit posts, some people like inspiration blogs, what I like are the creative blogs, the blogs that belong to young artists, designers or inspiring people who are building their own content e-portfolio style. I respect that type of blogger most and I continue to strive to the be that blogger too.

For uni I am creating a heavy metal shirt dress (inspired by Somarta's metal vest image 1) which is due in a couple of weeks. I am getting onto it early as I want this assignment to be my bitch and I want it to be detailed etc. So I hope you like the sneak peaks :) you will see the finished product in the future.

Somarta is an amazing Japanese designer who I will be posting more inspirational images up of later. Lady Gaga is a fan (omg did I just mention that name on my blog?) and well, I am a huge fan. Lately I have been appreciating the 90s genius McQueen and his whack concepts.

Also: How radical is my leather belt I found at the salvos for like $0.50? Crazy, I know.

Sold some clothes for cash at Raid My Wardrobe in Newcastle on the weekend. The event will be back around next year and most likely coming to Sydney to help spread the word of renewing, reinventing and recycling clothes.
So snapped all three of these up for a whole $12.50. Brand new NEUW shorts (as seen in Glue), new ring and large Navajo-like overnight carry bag. Win.

Ps I know I said I was getting back into it, but holy shit ladies, my life, you know... so crazy. Off to Melbourne on Saturday to see Sean, uni is hektic and Cheryl Manning of Manning Cartell is really keen to see me begin visually contributing looks/concepts/designs to her and I just don't have time right now ARGHH!!!

Beautiful devoted to Le Pearl, I must apoligise for my longest hiatus yet! I am ONLY JUST going through the collections on the 3rd, 4th and 5th day of RAFW which was held in early May! It is now obviously July and I am on uni holidays (half way to be exact). I have been spending the last few weeks thinking long and hard about Le Pearl, asking myself questions like 'do I have the time to run it?' (not really), 'is the passion still there?' (slightly), 'will I continue on?' (YOU BET).

Le Pearl will be undertaking an internal change. I am happy with the layout for now but the blog content will be more themed and by themed I mean stick to my personal photography, maybe outfit posts or the typical vain blogspot blogger self portrait image, my designs and the odd inspiration. So really nothing much has changed just -

I have news on my journey's these last few months. Manning Cartell is going great, I love all the girls there and Cheryl Manning herself has asked to see my personal aesthetic through my designs in the future - I should totally get onto it! Also I am now an official blogger of Fashion Palette! As some of my more regular Sydney readers may know I won tickets to the shows last year and had a fabulous birthday celebration.

Uni starts back in two weeks and I think I did well in Semester 1, I will just have to await my results. Also Sean has marched out of Kapooka and is now living in Melbourne, I cannot wait to see him in the next fortnight or so.

I am so privileged to have been here myself for this show. Aside from being a late show (we were waiting on all the big name celebs and editors coming from another show) the music and atmosphere was fantastic! I was completely star struck seeing Susie Bubble, Tommy Ton and Phil Oh. I also felt a blow to the guts when I saw Christine Centenera being chased down by Tommy Ton of Jak & Jil as she was approaching the Harper's SUV, she is just so amazing!

I am very happy for The Manning team, I wish them all the success from this collection.

Anyway I have another post of the show coming with my own personal photography.

It's a good thing that burnt orange is in right now. I am struggling to name a designer who hasn't experimented with the colour this season! I am loving the cream button up dress alot.

I didn't know much about her label until RAFW 2011. I actually had a hard time limiting the most beautiful outfits down. Don't the fabrics look lushhh?

Another label I found hard to limit. An obvious 70's bohemian inspiration. Paisley, crochet and no tailoring - feminine freedom.

A very fun and youthful collection Courtney has pumped out for 2011. Not as breathtaking at her previous collection (which got the attention of the world) but I love the colour palette, creative hair styles and accessories. I was totally confused on the boots though. I understand design isn't all about matchy matchy but... wtf?

NONE THE RICHER

Extremely impressed with this collection. An obvious lightweight compared to the bigger labels but I love the vibe from this collection. Religion is an obvious theme and the prints remind me of a Cathedral's stained glass window or even the confessional booths. Wowzer, would buy.

The key pieces from this was the maxi floral dress, lace and the lady-like socks in flat pointed shoes. so sweet! I also loved the hair and makeup.

Okay so first dress is pretty self explanatory - I need it now. I also like the styling on Rutt's number. I was very impressed with the prints and the eye makeup is so dark+sexy.

RAFWHIGHLIGHTSDAYONE

I simply adore the segmented details (a pattern-maker's nightmare!) and the romantic Baroque-style sleeves. The prints are dreamy with the virgin-white and that mustard leather skirt is bangin' hot.

Unfortunately, this wasn't my favourite Lover collection to date, only because of the lack of pretty clothes (I blame the explosion in tailored suit and man style trends). I love Lover for their soft and pretty Victorian garden-party (if you will) style dresses. Despite my huffs and puffs, I managed to scrounge some pretty laced dresses and soft tailoring which look DIVINE!

Oh shutup! Quit your sighs and eye rolling. Yes Perry is our national Mainstream gown king who dresses Australia's worst acting talents, however we cannot deny him respect. I really like the bodice (not that it would suit certain frames due to the varying bust sizes and upper arm dilemmas most women seem to have. I really like the colours in the second one, very striking, don't you think?

Wasn't too crash hot high on my list but despite that, I commend her for such a bold and unique look. As soon as I saw it I thought of Balenciaga, alot of rebel vibes coming from this collection and I dig it. Anyway, THOSE shoes are probably the best of RAFW by far. I need some pronto.

Another collection that didn't bother me too much. However when a collection doesn't inspire you overly, there is always one or two things at most you predict an obsession over, like those light mint green shorts <3

Black & White

clean & crisp vs feminine & floaty

I thoroughly enjoyed this. The neckbands and hair messily pulled back makes the show (oh and those embellished black flats)

ahh Flannel, the quiet achiever. I dig seeing fresh concepts during Fashion week hence, adoring the yellow boots. I was surprisingly attracted to the kimino set for some reason and that first oversize dress looks like a dream to wear!

A very fresh look for Bec and Bridge. I see they have a little Arnsdorf thing going on (refer to above image) but the prints were definitely an eye catcher for me. Some say it was one of the best of the entire week, I disagree, but it is up there :)

Like everything in my life, (including death) this post is wayyyy overdue.

I am introducing you to someone who is going to fuck up the Australian fashion industry (and by fuck up I mean that in the most positive way) and you are going to want to fucking know her - trust me.

Standout artist and designer, Julia Rich is my good ol pal from my old fashion college, this year we both moved onto different universities, different courses, design still our focus.

Julia has been working under her label ZEKE'S LUNCHBOX for some time now and to be honest the collections are not going to appeal to everyone. Let's just say if you lack appreciation for Romance Was Born, you will certainly have a 'wtf?' moment.

But Julia isn't a clone and she will not design/make for clones, that in itself deserves a little respect. Inspired by vintage, old school art/film/music and television, sci-fi and the grotesque, ZEKE'S LUNCHBOX is not just a design label, but a consistent work of art.

This is Julia's latest design for the Fisherman's Wife Exhibition that was held in Canberra a few weeks ago. I assume most of you would know about the Tale/Dream of the Fisherman's Wife, see what I mean by grotesque? Yeah it's fucking awesome.

It has been a while my dears. My utmost apologies, you would not believe how lame it has been for me lately. I have had constant virus issues - therefore lack of working computer. My SD card reader on my computer will not read correctly therefore no personal photography unless it is from my iphone /sighhhh. I am still here, I am still focused on making Le Pearl become one of Australia's more iconic blogs. To do so I realise outfit posts are desperately needed but you know what? Who the fuck has time to look like a dick and pose in front of a camera 24/7?

Anyway I went to the new ZARA opening in Sydney and bought the cutest knits. I will be back for the ZARA leather pleat skirt this coming week it was devine on! I would post images up but you know... my SD reader issues.

Great news is that I am invited to the ROSEMOUNT SYDNEY FASHION WEEK to see the Manning Cartell collection which will be an offsite show in the beautiful and iconic The Rocks district of Sydney.

On personal life, uni is busy, assignments due all the time and Sean is doing well in the army, apparently he has lost weight which i didn't think was possible because he is a skeleton as it is :/ but yeah I obviously miss him.

I am also a Tumblr cat now because during the absense of my beloved computer, I downloaded the Tumblr app and started from there. I am just loving the convenience of it all. So I only managed to make it to night number 2. Despite this, I enjoyed being part of an event still in it's very early stages within the Australian fashion community. The event gave young designers a chance to showcase their designs in a professional environment amongst some of Sydney's elite.

Mind you, the event happened almost 2 weeks ago now, but I have just been a little too busy to post of it. I met some great people and I cannot wait to be a part of 2012's event, hopefully bigger and better.

The stand out for me was easily Ashleigh Taylor. Overlooking her designs there was a constant theme of relationship between her pieces through colour, shape and choice of fabrics. Overall I got the Virgin suicides vibe from her beiges, pale pinks and cute garden florals. All that was missing was blouse dresses. I am hoping to conduct an interview with Ashleigh in the future about her directions and inspirations after she shoots her collections - exciting times.

Ps, I start uni this week, have my Manning Cartell internship today, so I am SUPER busy. I still have comments to reply to, sorry about that, will get back to you hopefully by the close of the week x

Well I have not really been into couture. As like many of you, I like to see accessible and affordable fashion. However we all know that ignoring couture is ignoring the foundings of fashion.

Aren't these pieces just wonderful! these are my personal highlights of couture spring 2011. Alexis Mabille is a new face for me and I simply adore the vibrant paisley pattern with the black sheer organza-like material and well the shoes are just too cute!

Armani has never really appealed much to me but I appreciate the awesome blocks of colours that shine as if the material had been dipped in metallic paints.

Givenchy's mini couture collection was extremely strange but I actually loved the contrasting fluoro jet pack-like additions to the back. So awesome!

My favourite was Elie Saab, what a designer he has become. Although it is really up to the imagination as to where the standards of Couture start and end, I feel Karl and his beloved Chanel are missing the point of extravagance. Like the others, Elie Saab has gone over the top with magnificent and minute detail. The colours are beautiful and the whole feminine + romantic vibe totally bekons me to come out of my casual poor 90's style shell and to feel as beautiful as the young girls do.

This is the shoot of my gorgeous girl Kelsie at The Photo Studio in Sydney She is wearing all of my clothes and accessories. The black outfit was 100% styled by me, which I thought was pretty awesome. It was a great day and everyone on set were so friendly. I was glad to see what a studio looked like and how things ran. Cannot wait to see the final images!

ps, after three years I got into the College of Fine Arts in Sydney. I am over the moon! I will be studying design again there :) My parents are so proud and yeah I am just over the moon. Love you all x

Aside from the sweet sweet style, this is most likely one of the only other exciting things to snap and boy, was I excited. There was not a shop I walked into where a staff member didn't freak out about the Litas.

Just some inspiration I have collected over the last few hektic weeks

Some DIYs there including the embellished socks and Moschino key sweater. Printed distressed velvet and bronzed jewelery, crystal obsessions (does it ever change with me?) and some epic Blade Runner screen shots. and the most important thing in this post is that taco costume... I will throw away my fashion aspirations just to walk around daily in it and have everyone think I was the hippest kid going round.

The good news is that college is over and the holidays are already in full swing. I have managed to do many things in the past week like design + make my own shirt, enter a competition with Liana only to fail in handing the entry in on time (entry will be shown tommorrow), drink til the sun came up (with Liana) and go to Bondi beach for the first time.

I feel somewhat bad for being inactive in a way and there is a part of me that feels opposite because I know there are thousands of bloggers out there that dedicate all their time to blogging, which I think is wrong. Come on, get a job, education +life people :/

Just some of the inspiring work of Lune Kuipers, who I was reffered to by a friend from the Netherlands. He is featured in the 'One' storyboard, you will notice his big grin straight away.

Anyway, I would love to be a part of sets like this. Working with models and photographers, getting crafty and adding those essential extras that could easily turn an image from okay to breath-taking. I like Lune's appreciation of minimalism. Many would disagree, but I feel minimalistic design speaks very strongly, especially through images.

Blacksmiths Street Style (a fun feature)

Hahaha I could not resist posting this. These little angels are my neighbours from my family hometown in Blacksmiths near Newcastle, Australia. They look like fashion veterans - Notice camera-ready pose and (imagine) Starbucks coffee in hand hehehe.

Estella (right) is a Suri Cruise look-alike and totally aces the layering of her little coral cardigan over a plain white singlet, paired with a (maxi?) skirt. She contrasts the sky blue croc booties against the dominating warm palette and tops the look off with a battery powered toy, a purse and some rockin retro heart sunnies (how adorable?).

Sabine's relaxed look is made up of a dark denim (harem? lol) style pants, a gorgeous aqua pointed shoulder top, with a matching headband/handbag, pink and green croc booties and to top it all off, some stylish orange Wayfarers.

These young ladies have a future on our blogs, so keep posted. We love young talent, hehe.
